It is not hard these days to wind up with massive amounts of debt. From credit card debt to student loan debt, many Rochester residents have not seen their bank account in the green for a long time. Most debts can be forgiven through bankruptcy and other options but one debt that never goes away until it is fully paid off is child support debt. Whether it's from unemployment, a sudden medical emergency or refusal to pay, many parents have wound up with high child support debt.
Like most debts, there are consequences for failing to make payments. Recently police issued a warrant of arrest for a 45-year-old man who is wanted for not paying child support. They have requested that the father turn himself in but as of now, he is still at large. The man is wanted for failure to pay child support in excess of $81,000. He could potentially face jail time once convicted.
